New York's 50 Best Places To Find Peace and Quiet
This is my latest project. I have been wanting this book for a few years and I finally got it. My project is to visit the places in this book and see for myself. I definitely am in search of peace and quiet and I refuse to believe people when they say it's impossible in New York City. I'm going to write about them, so stay tuned.

Resist the New Busy - Join the Old Lazy
I read this article this morning on The Idler website, home of one of my heroes Tom Hodgkinson whose book "How To Be Idle" helped me embrace my life of leisure. I was a little caught up in being busy for the past few weeks. This helped me to snap out of it again. I'd love to hear what you think. Click below to read....

NY Creates Holiday Market
NYCreates’ Sixth Annual 2009 Holiday Crafts Fair at the Brooklyn Historical Society
New York Creates is pleased to announce its latest initiative for the NewYork Craft Artist Community. In association with the Brooklyn Historical Society we are producing a Holiday Crafts Festival. The festival will take place on the ground floor entrance of The Brooklyn Historical Society’s building, located in downtown Brooklyn’s Historic District at 128 Pierrepont Street.
Come see me at the market and support local artists and crafters. There will be over 50 New York artisans participating, including Leisure Society. I am very excited to be showing new pillow designs and brand new sizes. I now have 18" x 18" and 12" x 12" pillows in addition to my 12" x 16" pillows. All styles are made with vintage fabrics and filled with recycled plastic soda bottles shredded up into fine filaments. Reuse and recycle!
What a perfect match - Leisure Society at the Brooklyn Historical Society.

Catching Up
I have been horrible at keeping this blog up since I've been freelancing Mondays through Thursdays. When I work at a job outside of my home, everything else kind of falls away. I guess that's one reason why I don't like working a full-time job. There's a lot of other things I want to do with my time! Anyway, here are some photos of what I've been up to in my free time in the past month.

Trout Fishing
We went to my Dad and Molly's house this weekend in CT. My dad goes fishing a lot and we asked if he would take us. We spent the day at a beautiful river, and we did pretty well! We caught about 8 trout, but we let 5 of them go. The next morning Dad grilled them up for our breakfast. What a great experience.
